Configuration of Forte Agent
(other tech support topics)
The Forte Agent doesn't allow you to enter the port number of your news server in the standard configuration dialog.
So you'll need to edit its INI file in order to make it use a non-standard port number for news server. What you do is enter only 127.0.0.1 in the news server address field (without the colon and port number!! - see the picture above) and click OK everywhere. Then close Agent down, go to the folder where it is installed and open AGENT.INI file (usually located in the Data sub-folder of the Agent's folder). Find the [Servers] section, it will look like that:
[Servers] NewsServer="127.0.0.1" MailServer="a" POPServer="mail.ukservers.net" NNTPPort=119 <-- Port number you'll need to change SMTPPort=25 POPPort=110 SMTPServerPort=25
Now, change the NNTPPort entry from 119 (which is the standard port number) to the port required by AntiFirewall. Save the file and launch the Agent. Now it'll work. Note that the addresses of SMTP and POP servers are completely irrelevant for newsgroups. As long as you only read and post to news, it doesn't matter what you enter in the SMTP and POP fields, since the Agent won't use them.Tech. Support Topics
