Anonymity 4 Proxy (A4Proxy) vs. AntiFirewall
(other tech support topics)
Anonymity 4 Proxy (also known as A4Proxy, http://www.inetprivacy.com/a4proxy/) and AntiFirewall are two completely different products and their functionality does not overlap, even though both use external proxy servers to create anonymous connections.
A4Proxy provides anonymity for web surfing and blocks cookies; it must be used together with a web browser or a download manager like GetRight. It has many advanced features like monitoring of outgoing requests, proxy filtering rules, etc. Again, you can use it only with a web browser or download manager.
On the other hand, Antifirewall works with any IRC/FTP/Email/News client programs and ICQ. If you are behind a restrictive firewall, in many situations, Antifirewall can get through it and make it possible for you to use those programs. It also acts as anonymizing software for all these connections. Note, however, that you can't use Antifirewall with you web browser or download manager, since the technology is very different. Also note that if you click on a web link in an ICQ or news message, it starts your web browser and from now on you are not anonymous, unless you are also using web anonymizing software like A4Proxy.
