| Anonymity 4 Proxy: Details | FAQ | Download | Purchase | Tech. Support |
All email messages you send include your IP address in a technical, usually invisible part, called "email headers". Here's a good article about how to read and understand email headers: http://www.stopspam.org/email/headers/headers.html
A traditional way to send untraceable email is to use a so-called remailer, a service which receives the email from you, strips out all original email headers together with the information about your location and IP address, and then sends the message to its final destination. This approach is inconvenient and often unreliable. Using A4Proxy for the same purpose is much easier.
A4Proxy doesn't work with ordinary e-mail software clients like Outlook and Eudora. You can use it only with your web browser or download manager like GetRight. However, you can still send e-mail anonymously (i.e. without disclosing your IP address) using web-based e-mail services like HotMail.com. When you connect to their web interface through A4Proxy and send e-mail using their web-forms, your IP address is hidden from them and it is not present in the e-mails you send. You can easily test it by sending an email to yourself and looking at the headers of the message when it arrives.
We also have a new anonymizing product which allows some email functionality (namely POP and IMAP, i.e. lets you read email without disclosing your IP address) and works with ordinary e-mail and newsreader software. Please have a look at http://www.inetprivacy.com/antifirewall for more details.
